Machina Bristronica 2024

Bristol is a city that has long been at the forefront of musical creativity and innovation.

With a rich legacy that spans multiple genres, Bristol has played a key role in shaping the UK’s music scene, making it the perfect location for an event that pushes the boundaries of sound and technology. The city’s influence began with its deep roots in reggae and punk during the 1970s, and continued into the 1990s, when it became the birthplace of trip-hop and drum and bass. Acts like Massive Attack, Portishead, and Roni Size emerged from Bristol, blending genres in ways that redefined music not only in the UK but globally. Today, the city remains a hub for underground electronic music, experimental sounds, and forward-thinking art, making it a fitting host for a groundbreaking event like Machina Bristronica.

Unlike traditional music festivals, Machina Bristronica stands out as a unique gathering focused on exploration, experimentation, and the future of sound. It’s not about celebration, but about serious engagement with the latest advancements in music technology.

The event brings together a diverse group of musicians, sound designers, technologists, and modular synthesizer enthusiasts from around the world, all keen to discover the newest tools, techniques, and innovations in the field. Attendees will experience hands-on demos, workshops, and performances that showcase the latest in modular synthesizers, experimental audio interfaces, and cutting-edge software for music production.

A festival of Knobs, Buttons and Discussions, laid out over 4 warehouse rooms and an outdoor stage in the heart of Bristol UK on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of October. For two days of synthesizer stalls, panel talks, live hardware performances, DIY modular workshops, music production and performance training, DJ sets and the Escher Music Connection showcase.

A major focus of Machina Bristronica is modular synthesis, a technology that has seen a resurgence in recent years. As musicians increasingly seek more customizable, tactile ways to create music, modular synths have become a core part of experimental and electronic music production. The event will feature some of the leading brands and developers in the modular synth world, providing attendees with the chance to explore new modules, systems, and techniques. Beyond modular gear, Machina Bristronica will also spotlight innovative audio hardware and software that promises to reshape the future of live performance and studio production. Whether you're into analogue setups or cutting-edge digital solutions, the event is designed to spark creativity and offer fresh perspectives on sound design.

Machina Bristronica is more than just a showcase—it's a think tank for the next wave of music technology. The event fosters an environment where creators, developers, and musicians can connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas. It’s a space where the future of music production is constantly being pushed forward, making it a must-attend for anyone deeply invested in the evolution of sound. What makes this event truly special is its commitment to serious exploration rather than entertainment. It’s a gathering of like-minded individuals dedicated to advancing the art and science of sound in ways that have the potential to shape the industry for years to come.

We’ll be attending Machina Bristronica 2024 with our colleagues from ReMotive Media, to immerse ourselves in the latest advancements in sound technology and connect with fellow professionals in the field. Stay tuned for updates and insights from one of the most exciting music tech events of the year.
